This problem would probably mean that you are trying to install the screensaver from a windows limited user account, such as the "guest" or the "limited user"

Log off from that user and login as a user that is also the administrator of the computer.
Make sure you download the official free screensaver setup from http://www.StarMessage.info to
Start the setup to see if the problem still exists.

If you are already an administrator and still see the error "CreateFile failed; code 5", that would mean that there is a protection software running on your computer preventing installation of other programs.
Do you see any other warning coming out of that protection software, like antivirus or firewall?
You can temporaly disable the protection software to install the screensaver and then re-enable it again.

Problem symptoms:
A 32 bit screensaver is installed without problems on Vista 64 bit, but does not appear in the list of installed screensavers, in the display properties.

Also, when clicking the screensaver icon on the start menu, windows says "the shortcut  has been changed or moved" and asks if you would like the shortcut removed.

Background information:
On 64 bit windows, screensavers of 32 bit are installed in the folder 
c:\windows\SysWOW64

The screensaver folder on a 32 bit windows would be:
c:\windows\system32

Screensavers have the extension ".scr". For example the starmessage screensaver has the name of starmsg.scr

Troubleshooting help:
Even if you are using a 32 bit screensaver you can try the following tricks to make it work:

Copy the screensaver "starmsg.scr" from
c:\windows\SysWOW64
to
c:\windows\system32

See if this makes the screensaver appear in the screensavers list.
If yes, press preview to see if it operates normally.
See if the start menu icons are now working ok (not being reported as broken shortcuts).

Otherwise, right click on starmsg.scr in the folder c:\windows\SysWOW64 and select install.

See if this makes it appear in the screensavers list.
If yes, press preview to see if it operates normally.
See if the start menu icons are now working ok (not being reported as broken shortcuts).

Update:
The screensaver setup versions 4.14 and later are compatible with the new 64 bit windows (Vista 64 bit, 64 bit Windows 7).

A screensaver is a small software application that is automatically activated when you leave your computer unattended without any keyboard of mouse activity, for 5 or more minutes.

The first screensavers were build about 20 years ago to save the phosphor of the monitor screen, from being exposed to the electron rays when the users forgot the computer On.

Nowadays screensavers are used mostly to show graphic animations when a user does not work with his computer. In order to have StarMessage (or any other screensaver) at your computer you must follow these steps:

1) Find the screensaver on the internet.

2) Download the screensaver to your computer install it.

3) Set the idle time (optional), after which, the screensaver will start automatically.

4) Configure the screensaver.

and select the "wait" time. A typical value is 5 minutes.

This warning automatically comes out from windows XP whenever you download programs from the internet and the program is not "digitally signed by an established authority". The procedure to "digitally sign" a program is very expensive and not used by mid/small sized companies. Only big companies can afford to digitally sign their programs. Therefore, the majority of the programs available for download, will also show this message.

You can safely ignore that message for our products
that are downloaded from our official download locations.

Whenever you download programs from the internet you should make sure you download them from their original site. For example, you must avoid downloading programs from other users via a p2p file sharing utility.
