The version 4.16 of the screensaver has improved support for dual monitors. The previous versions were splitting the messages accross the two screens. Version 2.16 shows all the messages in the primary monitors and shows the stars of the night sky in the secondary monitor. Enjoy !

You have to be carefull when you download and try screensavers, especially free screensavers.

About the StarMessage screensaver:
Starmessage is perfectly safe to use. There is no third party software bundled with it.

Problem symptoms:
A 32 bit screensaver is installed without problems on Vista 64 bit, but does not appear in the list of installed screensavers, in the display properties.

Also, when clicking the screensaver icon on the start menu, windows says "the shortcut  has been changed or moved" and asks if you would like the shortcut removed.

Background information:
On 64 bit windows, screensavers of 32 bit are installed in the folder 
c:\windows\SysWOW64

The screensaver folder on a 32 bit windows would be:
c:\windows\system32

Screensavers have the extension ".scr". For example the starmessage screensaver has the name of starmsg.scr

Troubleshooting help:
Even if you are using a 32 bit screensaver you can try the following tricks to make it work:

Copy the screensaver "starmsg.scr" from
c:\windows\SysWOW64
to
c:\windows\system32

See if this makes the screensaver appear in the screensavers list.
If yes, press preview to see if it operates normally.
See if the start menu icons are now working ok (not being reported as broken shortcuts).

Otherwise, right click on starmsg.scr in the folder c:\windows\SysWOW64 and select install.

Update:
The screensaver setup versions 4.14 and later are compatible with the new 64 bit windows (Vista 64 bit, 64 bit Windows 7).

You will need to download the latest normal version of the screensaver to proceed with the activation of the program.
You can download the latest version from www.StarMessage.info

In the sounds tab, select the “cuckoo on the hour” and every hour, the screensaver will play a cuckoo sound, then the hour changes.
In 7am, 8am, and 9am, instead of a cuckoo sound you will hear a morning rooster.

The famous quotes are only present for certain categories of flying pictures.
If the “quotes composed by program” tick box is disabled then the selected category does not have any built in quotes.
Select a different picture and category of quotes by pressing the Next button and you will see the tick box being selectable.

Starting from the screensaver version v4.00, you can safely install the new version over the old one.
