This update contains the new homepage of StarMessage and a layout improvement in the registration form.
StarMessage screensaver v4.20 12/30/2010
This version increases the font size of the message written in the stars. As a result each letter written in the stars is composed by more stars.
The StarMessage screensaver allows you to send a message to a friend via email. When your friend receives it, he will see your message written in the stars. Both you and your friend need to have a working copy of the StarMessage screensaver. Although not necessary, it is recommended that your friend has a registered version to avoid any "please register" reminders. To send a message via email, please go to: -> Configuration screen of the starmessage screensaver -> [May I have more options] button -> [Messages] tab Type your message and your bottom line and press the [Preview] button to see if your message is displayed as you wanted. Then press the [Send] button. This will open a new temporary folder and inside that folder you will see 2 files: Receive Instructions.txt NewMessage.StarMsg 1) The file named "Receive Instructions.txt" contains instructions for the user that will receive the email. You must copy paste the text from this file inside the email that you are going to send to your friend. 2) The file named "NewMessage.StarMsg" contains the actual "star message" that you prepared. You must attach this file to the email. Now you can send the email you just created. ............. When your friend receives this email he must: 1) install the StarMessage screensaver, if he does not already have it. 2) Open the attached "NewMessage.StarMsg" file and the import will be done automatically. He will see your message written in the stars. Very impressive, especially for romantic messages. If you want, you can try to send this email to yourself first, to experience and understand better this procedure. Another quick test you can do it to use ready star message that I prepared to demonstrate how the import is done.
You can download this file to see how it works. Open this zip file and double click on the newmessage.starmsg file. On the dialog that will popup, select the "open" option. This will activate the StarMessage screensaver that will automatically import and display the message. I am reminding you that you must have installed the StarMessage screensaver on your computer for that test to succeed. StarMessage screensaver v4.19 12/06/2010

Screensaver v4.17 05/22/2010
StarMessage screensaver v4.17 improves the installation procedure of the screensaver. This problem would probably mean that you are trying to install the screensaver from a windows limited user account, such as the "guest" or the "limited user" Log off from that user and login as a user that is also the administrator of the computer. Make sure you download the official free screensaver setup from http://www.StarMessage.info to Start the setup to see if the problem still exists. If you are already an administrator and still see the error "CreateFile failed; code 5", that would mean that there is a protection software running on your computer preventing installation of other programs. Do you see any other warning coming out of that protection software, like antivirus or firewall? You can temporaly disable the protection software to install the screensaver and then re-enable it again. You probably need to adjust the monitor power settings as well. When you set the screensaver idle time to lets say 5 minutes, make sure that the idle time for the monitor power off is set to something bigger, e.g. 15 minutes. Windows will switch off your monitor after 15 minutes and you will have the screensaver running for 10 minutes. The monitor power options are controlled from the same screen as the screensaver idle time. Read more on how to configure the screensaver idle time Please see this step by step guide on how to download, install configure and register the StarMessage screensaver. http://www.screensaver-download.com/how-to-install-starmessage.html If you are interested in general instructions for any screensaver, this guide is also valid for most of the windows screensavers. |
